Schools
Music Advocacy Kit

|
This link will lead
you to a kit, the purpose of which is to provide arguments and
methods for school parents and school music teachers to establish music
programs in schools where there are none, and gain greater support for
music programs in schools where they already exist.
|
 |
This link will lead you to a PDF file, “Essential
Advocacy Resources for Music,” compiled by Dr. Lautzenheiser and
his colleagues. In its 304 pages, you will find a host of facts, tips
and sample outreach letters that will bolster your own efforts to
support music education.

The purpose of ASME
is to encourage and advance music education at all levels as an integral
part of general education and community life, and as a profession within
the broad field of music.
|

For all of its fifty years, the International
Society for Music Education (ISME)
has argued that music is an essential part of the education of all
people, in every corner of the world. |
Music educators and supporters
continually find themselves needing to justify why music is important in
our schools and community.
|
 |
The
Performing Right Society (PRS) is a non-profit membership
organisation which collects licence fees from UK music users.
|
 |
The Music
Education Coalition has produced a variety of materials to assist
local music education advocacy groups in their efforts.
|

Originally created to provide music educators with links to other music related sites,
Music Education Online has grown over the past twelve years to include much more than simply links. |
MEO features a wealth of resources for the music education community including advocacy research, bulletin boards, reading suggestions, grant information, instrument advice, practice tips, free music downloads and much more.

The Song Room work to provide high quality
music and arts experiences to young people, particularly those

Visual
Presentation
|
I have included some
classroom visual presentations in regards to music teachers presenting their
music room, technology room and storage room. These examples illustrate the
importance of stimulating the students from the minute they enter the room
as well as looking after equipment and maintaining order. I was impressed
with their efforts and I hope that schools looking to set up a music room
can learn from some of the examples shown.
